He is one of Captain Geary's most loyal supporters and is regerded as an extremely capable officer and is respected by the other officers in the fleet. He befriends Geary and usually hangs back after fleet conferences to chat with Geary in an informal tone. When the Courageous was destroyed in the Battle of Heradao, he is given command of Inspire after Captain Kila's suicide.
