Cadez is a Syndicate star system within jump range of Kaliban. When transiting through the Kaliban system, Captain Geary ruled out Cadez as a destination, fearing that since Cadez possessed a hypernet gate, a large Syndicate force would be present in the system.
While taking a battleship from the Kane star system, Iceni's force met a light cruiser which wanted to go home to Cadez. Iceni granted it the right to use Midway star system's hypernet gate to speed up the journey in return for ensuring some refugees' survival as well as providing a status update of Kane.
